Cannondale es una de las mejores marcas del mundo y una de las líderes en cuanto a innovación, investigación, desarrollo... Son verdaderos fierros, aunque a mi no me terminan de gustar sus diseños y me resultan prohibitivos sus precios, sobre todo porque tienen una curva de precio-prestaciones no tan favorable para los bolsillos latinos como Giant. Orbea es también una marca líder, pero en el mercado español/europeo. Si pensás en comprar alguna, cualquiera es confiable.

Sólo me gustaría sumar a lo que comentó agmouls que, si bien ambas marcas son muy buenas, depende en que gama de manejes. Sinceramente no compraría una Cannondale de gama baja / media, ya que cuesta bastante más que otras marcas y no ofrece nada interesante en comparación.

Sì, totalmente, a eso me refería con lo de precio-prestaciones, pense en la gama normal/alta de Cannon, pero es algo que se da en todas. Saludos.

Supongo que el gran valor agregado de Cannondale en las bicicletas de gama baja es el cuadro. Eso es lo que vale. tengo una Cannondale M300 del año 96 y muchos admiran ese cuadro hecho a mano en los EEUU.

Segun estuve leyendo Cannondale desde hace un tiempito está fabricando sus cuadros en China con lo que el preciado sticker laqueado de "Hand Made in Unites Stades" ha desaparecio, hecho que ha creado controversia y algunos enfados en los fanáticos de la marca.

Eso de USA vs Asia viene desde hace rato. Hay un thread en mtbr que, entre mucho ranting y whining, tiene algunos pensamientos interesantes para cada punto de vista. Este post en particular me pareció curioso:

I bought my first Cannondale in 1989. I have worked for Cannondale dealers at the IBD level and I have worked at Cannondale in Bethel. I have been a product manager and product developer in the bicycle industry for the past 10 years. Cannondale has been an iconic brand and innovator from day one and it will continue to be. Comments about "Taiwanese POS's" have no merit. I have seen plenty of frames out of Bedford with consistent QC problems. I Have seen impeccable frames out of Asia as well as crap frames. Cannondale has QC people in Asia and quality of those frames will be just fine. I understand the "buy American' sentiment but the people that are bitc&ng the loudest have been riding Asian made stuff for years. The "Cannondale" stem on your bike came for Wei Hau, Kalloy, Tien Hsien, JD or some other nameless, faceless factory in Taichung. Your house brand saddle came from Velo or Viscount. Cannondale has sourceed forgings, frame parts and Headshok parts from Asia forever. Your "Made in Bedford USA" frame has always had a little bit of Taiwan in it. You buy SRAM because it is an American company but everything is made in Taiwan, China or Malaysia. Your "French" Hutchinson and "American" Specialized tires are made by Kenda. "Made in the USA" Bontrager carbon fiber tubulars have the rims made in Taiwan. I have been in the factory and seen them come out of the molds and watched little old Taiwanese ladies apply the decals. "Made in Taiwan" Trek aluminum road frames are made in China and have the carbon seat stayed glued in place and get painted in Taiwan because the consumer perception is that Taiwan is better than China. It is all BS and marketing spin.

You don't want a bike that was shipped half way around the world because it is wasteful? Was your TV hand crafted by local artisans? How about your lap top or your Xbox or all the other crap we consume?

It sucks that Cannondale is Shuttng Bedford down. It is the end of an era but it isn't the end of the brand. It is just the reality of the world we live in. If you really want to buy an American bike then god bless you and get one.

Ultimately if Cannondale increases its sales it will mean American jobs - sales reps, credit people, IT people, graphics and marketing people, etc. It sucks for the welder or the finish guy in Bedford but it is what it is.

That is my two F'in cents.
