How to tighten cranks

Hello,
I recently started BMXing, and after a few sessions, I noticed my cranks came loose. I've removed the lock nut and can tighten them, but they still have play and spin freely. Any advice? I plan to get new cranks soon, but I’d like to ride in the meantime. Thanks!
