GT Berm BMX bike issues

Hello,
I purchased this bike but returned it because the rear hub was clicking very loudly. The bike technician mentioned it might be a defective unit and offered to build a new one for me to pick up in a week. I finally received the new bike today, and while it still clicks, it's not nearly as loud. He claimed that all of them make that noise, but I’m starting to think they don’t really know what they’re doing. Has anyone else had experience with this bike or build?

It's entirely possible that the noise you're hearing is normal for that specific model's hub. However, a good technician should be able to clearly explain why it's making the noise (e.g., "This hub has high engagement points, which golf hit game makes it louder than typical road bike hubs, but it's operating as designed"), rather than just a dismissive "they all do that."

It’s frustrating when you’re excited about a new bike but encounter issues like a clicking rear hub. Some clicking noises can be normal due to the hub’s design, especially if it’s a freehub or cassette hub, but loud or persistent clicking often indicates a problem like loose parts, improper adjustment, or a defective hub. If the technician says all bikes make that noise, I’d recommend getting a second opinion from another bike shop or mechanic to be sure. Also, checking online forums or reviews for that specific model can help identify if this is a common issue. Don’t settle for a bike that affects your ride quality—your concerns are valid!
